There is a new speedrunning guide by the Speedrun master himself Nefrums on YT. He gives some very nice hints on how to do it (it's a 2-3h video, though). Gonna try following it myself too in the next couple of days.

Overally it is decent guide for "There is no spoon". Perfect way to get the achievement (although I feel I little dirty by following it - but as they say "the end justifies the means"). Yes, the achievement will work in multiplayer. If you are running a headless server then the game will pause (default setting) when no player is connected. But you can use the guide with hand crafting if you want to just launch a rocket before 8h.
